Making Spirits Bright

Christmas will be a whole lot merrier for 100 children in the greater New Orleans area thanks to LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry. Representing the LSU Health New Orleans Chapter of the American Student Dental Association, dental students organized the School's participation in the Salvation Army's Adopt an Angel Program again this year. It was a record-breaking year.

In the true spirit of the season, faculty, staff and students at the School bought bikes, toys, dolls, games, sports equipment, chemistry and outdoor exploration sets, clothes, electronics and more to fulfill the wish lists for every child. Watch!

"This is the most children we have ever adopted, and I was absolutely humbled by the outpouring of generosity from this community," says third-year DDS student Emily Guarisco who led the project. "This event is so special and a reminder of the reason for this holiday season. The overwhelming response to help the less fortunate in our community is a true testament to the calling we have answered as future healthcare providers. I am so proud of our LSU Health School of Dentistry family and know these children will be overjoyed as well on Christmas morning."
